TeamSpeak 6 shipped without the one feature I'd taken for granted for over two decades: an audible mic click. No feedback when your mic opens. No way to tell if background noise — a cough, a clacky keyboard, a passing truck — was lighting up your icon for the entire channel to hear. It was maddening. So I built it myself.
A single-file, zero-dependency browser app that plays distinct click sounds when you start and stop talking via the TS6 Remote Apps API.
- Download
ts6_mic.html(right-click → Save link as) - Open
ts6_mic.htmlin a browser (Chrome/Firefox/Edge) - In TeamSpeak 6: Settings → Remote Apps → Permission Requests → accept the request
- Click anywhere on the page once to allow audio (browser safety feature)
- Use the volume slider to adjust loudness
Connects to the TeamSpeak 6 Remote Apps WebSocket (ws://127.0.0.1:5899) and listens for flagTalking events. Plays a mic-on sound when you press push-to-talk (or VAD triggers) and a mic-off sound on release.
Do I have to re-authorize TS6 every time? Some browsers (e.g. private/incognito mode) wipe localStorage on close. Once the app connects and the 💾 Save API Key permanently button appears, click it. This downloads a new HTML file with the key baked right in. Replace your old file with it — no more re-authorization needed.
- Embedded WAV sounds (no external files)
- Configurable volume with live preview
- Reconnect on disconnect (5s interval)
- One-click permanent API key baking (downloads a self-contained HTML)
