Overriding control colors in Maui class library

We're attempting to use a Maui class library from Android & iOS .Net apps (we don't have the bandwidth to go full Maui yet). The reason for this is that we had some Xamarin forms that we were using in both apps when they were .Net 5.
The problem is that if you include the Maui class library then somewhere it's setting default colors for various things that override the Android colors defined in the .Net app. For e.g. buttons on alert dialogs end up Maui purple. Does anyone know how to change the Maui colors in a Maui class library?

It turned out to be a general theming issue related to having to move to the MaterialComponent theme for Maui.
